Anyone with even a passing interest in comic book characers or just on screen violence need to check out Thomas Jane's new short film "Dirty Laundry", a 10 minute film where he plays the legendary marvel character "the Punisher".
TJ wasn't paid to do this, he is basically a nerd who happens to be handsome enough to be an actor, so he did it just cause he loves the character. I've seen so many damn badasses in movies I'm almost completely sick of it but Jane delivers a compelling slow burn.
It starts out looking kind of amateurish but the film gets better and better as it goes along and there is even an appearance by another comic book film leading man, Ron Perlman. The final scene makes it worth it. If you liked the most recent Rambo movie you'll like this.
People have been openly critical of the racial element to this which I think is unfair. The only casting that seems a little disingenuous is Perlman as the ghetto corner store owner; customer I would've bought.
The actor that plays the pimp is great and hopefully this is a breakout role for him. Unfortunately they put this up on youtube without any credits or links to credits which is a disservice to the actors and crew that worked on it.
I recommend it, it's awesome. I would like to see Jane play this role in another feature film soon, he only has about 6 more years before he starts playing aging corner store owners instead of badass heroes.
