Congratulations, Shot film. IN THE CAN! 08/22/2011
From idea, to page to the editing room in two months. Thanks to my actors and crew for the hard work and great talent. More to come! Add Comment New Apes, 30 minutes or Less 08/11/2011
Rise of the Planet of the Apes was awesome. For some reason this is a polarizing movie, where people loved it or hated it but obviously people who hated it are bitter and probably didn't pay attention. According to Rotten Tomatoes 90% of people loved it. A few amazing images alone make the movie worth is (Chimp on horseback, rad) and the writers made the outrageous story very believable. This will probably demand a sequel but to work James Franco would have to be in it and that would take even more creative writing. The trailer to 30 minutes or Less is not funny, which is the greater crime, but also is horribly offensive to both the family of Brian Wells (who was blown up after being forced to rob a bank) and to our intelligence for saying the movie is not directly based on the story of Brian Wells. Why is Jesse Eisenberg famous? \"Congratulations\" Film cast 08/07/2011
Here are two of the actors for my new film Congratulations, that we will film very soon, here in Long Beach. Lee Sandford and Michael Town. More Info soon. This photo will be used at a prop in the movie. Submarino 07/25/2011
Thomas Vinterberg directed one of my favorite movies "The Celebration" (Festen) and I was eager to see a movie in which he didn't follow the Dogme '95 manifesto (Simply put a Dogme '95 movie uses no added in music, no artificial lighting, no superficial violence i.e. no guns). The trailer for Submarino made it look like the opposite of a Dogme film and very much like a film from the Pusher series. I was expecting to see some kind of dramatic heist but Submarino turned out to be an intense family drama that cuts to the heart of how someone's past influences the person they become and the choices they make. The basic plot follows two adult brothers in that shared a horrible childhood and now life separate lives. The movie doubles back halfway through which is one of my pet peeves in movies (always make forward progress, no flashbacks, thankfully there is no voice over which is a sign of bad storytelling) and for the first part of the second half it is so annoying and uncomfortable you almost want to shut the movie off but once you start tying the loose ends of part 1&2 together the story really starts to reward the viewer and makes you think about your own life. Warning, there are some pretty sad parts here. The main actor in the film Jakob Cedergren rocks one of the most handsome beards in film history and shows some impressive range towards the end of the film. I don't think it was ever released in america and on Box Office Mojo it looked like it didn't even break even, I hope Vinterberg keeps going in this direction even if he went broke making this movie. I recommend it. "Drive" Trailer looks awesome. Hype! 07/22/2011
Can't wait to see this movie, it looks so awesome. What kind of accent is Ryan Gosling doing here, pittsburgh maybe? ANyway this director did the PUSHER films (danish) which were awesome too. Albert Brooks doesn't really fit for me, he's coming through stale in the few lines in this trailer, maybe the cokehead producer from True Romance would have been better. The way Los Angeles is portrayed in this trailer reminds me a lot of David Mamet's REDBELT, which some people hated but is one of my all time favorite movies. Amazing SpiderMan? Makes me Hurl. 07/21/2011
The new trailer for the amazing spider man looks TERRIBLE! Didn't we just see Tobey go through this same plot like 6 years ago and way cooler looking? WHAT A MONEY GRAB. It'll be the "new coke" of the spider man franchise. First the musical and now this. They are coming up with zero new ideas. Seeing his parents rush away in the night is not enough for a new full movie. Also, why does the CG from the first sam rami spider-man look great and the CG in this trailer look like a playstation game (notice how many times they repeated the same air conditioning unit on the roof and the awful textures on the pipes). Answer it's an uncreative, rushed money grab. BARF! I'm bitter. Congratulations, Short Film 07/21/2011
I wrote a script for a short film recently working title is "Congratulations" but I am trying to think of a more accurate title. It is 11 pages long and I am hoping to make the short film about 8 minutes long. "Duel of the Overmen" is a 19 minute long movie and I think the long length kept it out of some short film festivals. For ever 20 minute long movie the accept they have to say no to 4 five minute shorts. That sounds like sour grapes, probably is. So this movie will definitely be under 10 mins. The tagline I wrote for it will give you an idea of what it is about " A newly pregnant trophy wife and her unaware criminal husband are abducted at home by a contract killer, suddenly forcing them to confront the nature of their relationship." I have been auditioning actors mostly through AUDISH.com which is a great site, I just wished more people used it. Here is the audish page http://audish.com/Production-458 So everything is on track for it now but I have been having a really tough time finding a location to shoot. I was thinking of using a modern looking apartment but renting an apartment for a day of shooting starts at $1500 and the more normal price is $3500. It is like these people are trying to pay two months rent off one day of shooting. Good for them if they can get that. My wife gave me a great idea to rent a modern looking suite at a hotel and shoot it there, that should work. So we are looking for a cool looking hotel room with a living room inside. | Brendon DeVore
